Content:
Students will develop an understanding of the tourism industry in Australia from a range of perspectives and will explore contemporary issues. This course incorporates a two-day trip to some of South Australia’s most iconic tourist destinations.
Throughout the semester students will explore the history of the Australian tourism industry; the social, economic and environmental impacts of tourism; and the role of government and organisations in tourism.
Assessment:
Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Performance Standards, as outlined by the SACE Board. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes. Students understanding and skills will be assessed in a variety of tasks that may include:
- Practical activity: Interview and Report
- Source Analysis: Illustrated Essay and Source Evaluation
- Case Study: Oral and Visual Presentations
- Investigation: Extended Written Response
Leads to: Stage 2 Business Innovation. Alternatively, students may choose Stage 2 Modern History, Stage 2 Society and Culture or Stage 2 Legal Studies.
